Early 19th-century pair of carved mahogany Gainsborough armchairs in the early Georgian manner. Each chair with a camel-back and a stuffed-over seat upholstered in fine needlework, probably contemporary with the 17th-century Rococo scenes and decorative motifs depicted. The scrolled arms end in lion-mask terminals, and the cabriole legs are carved at the knees with bearded satyr masks and acanthus leaf motifs, terminating in scroll feet with oval cartouches. Brass close-nailed throughout.
