19th Century Irish Regency Mahogany Serving Table. The rectangular top with a carved gadrooned edge and bow shaped ends. With a typically Irish spiral twist splash back, Labove a plain frieze, with carved acanthus, above two lions monopodia carved legs, resting on a plate-form base. Attributed to Mack Williams & Gibton c. 1820.
Inspiration for the design of this table can be seen from publications by Charles Healthcote Tatham ancient ornamental architecture, Thomas Hopes Regency design & George Smiths a collection of designs for the household all published between 1797 and 1810.
