Early 19th Century centre table attributed to the renowned English Regency cabinet maker, sculptor, and designer George Bullock (c.1780-1818). The circular, beautifully striated top is encircled by bands of marquetry in satinwood and kingwood displaying the type of neoclassical motifs favoured by Bullock, such as acanthus leaves, scrolling oak leaves and griffons. The acanthus leaf mofif carries through to a wide band of ormulu on the apron of the table-top that rides above a second, narrower, ormulu band. The pedestal, sitting on a triangular support, features splendid ormolu decoration in the form of upright acanthus leaves standing above a band of laurel leaves over a ribbed circular foot. The tripartite base terminates in three superb ormulu feet fashioned as large, scrolled acanthus leaves sitting on scallop shells that disguise sunk castors.
