19th Century oil on canvas painting of pastoral scene by John Moore (1820 – 1902). The painting depicts a figure walking up to a quaint country cottage from a small lake. John Moore was a prominent English painter who was a founding member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1874. Although perhaps best-known for his seascapes, Moore also produced several tranquil scenes of rural villages like the present work, with various similar scenes held in the Ipswich Borough Council Collection.
