19th Century bronze allegorical figure after ‘La Douceur’ (Gentleness) by the French sculptor Jean-Esprit Marcellin (1821-1884) held at the Louvre. The draped female figure holds a dove in one hand, pressed to her heart, while a curly-haired lamb feeds from her other hand. Imprinted signature on the base reads MARCELLIN.
