Pair 19th Century Kingwood French side tables with white marble tops sitting above delicate sabre legs. The pair both feature small single drawers with simple radial brass handle.
Kingwood is a classic furniture wood, almost exclusively used for inlays on very fine furniture. It was the most expensive wood in general use for furniture making in the seventeenth century, at which time it was known as princes wood. It was prized for its colouring and distinctive, stripy grain which is clearly evident on this fine pair of tables.
