19th Century Occasional Chair in the French style, with simply turned mahogany legs to the front terminating on brass castors, and two plain mahogany legs to the rear. This piece has recently been re-upholstered in a simple fabric with decorative brass nail detailing just above the front legs.
Often called ‘Slipper Chairs’, these types of chairs generally feature fully upholstered seats, short arms, and short legs so that they sit closer to the ground. They were mainly found in women’s dressing rooms from the 18th Century onwards.
