19th Century pair of bronze figural sculptures in the manner of Franz Xavier Messerschmidt (1736 – 1793), two character heads depicting infants experiencing the emotions of joy and sadness, two of the sixty four canonical grimaces of the human face which encompass representations of the full range of human expression, raised over circular marble socle.
