This early 18th-century French Louis XV marquetry bombe commode or chest of drawers, signed “L. Delaitre,” has a crossbanded veneer and is ornamented with chiselled and gilded bronze throughout. The shaped Breche d’Alep marble top with a molded edge is above two short and two long drawers with ornate ormolu escutcheons and pulls with foliate and cherub motifs. Flanked with gilt bronze sabots and with bracket feet with gilt bronze sabots. Stamped “L. Delaitre.”
