This early 18th-century French Louis XV marquetry bombé commode or chest of drawers, signed “L. Delaitre,” has a crossbanded veneer and is ornamented with chiselled and gilded bronze throughout. The shaped Breche d’Alep marble top with a molded edge is above two short and two long drawers with ornate ormolu escutcheons and pulls with foliate and cherub motifs. Flanked with gilt bronze sabots.
