Item Description

This pair of Chinese Song dynasty funerary jars are molded in porcelain with the blue-green qingbai glaze, also known as yingqing, typical of the period. The ribbed necks of the slender, pear-shaped vases are ornamented with fanciful figures, with birds atop the domed lids. A similar jar is illustrated in "Qingbai Ware: Chinese Porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasties," page 180, plate 97.
