19th Century Jasperware campagna urn attributed to William Adams of Greengate, Tunstall. The applied white bas relief depicting classical figural scenes with foliate motif against the distinctive ‘Adams blue’ ground. The ‘Adams blue’ is the shade approaching violet used by Adams on his Jasperware, with impressed mark, ‘Adams, Estd 1657’. William Adams (1745-1805) was reputedly one of Josiah Wedgewood’s most favoured pupils with renowned artistic ability.
