Item Categories: New In Dublin, Sculpture Item Page: https://osullivanantiques.com/item/11162-19th-century-pair-ceramic-busts/
Item DescriptionLate 18th Century Pair Porcelain Busts depicting the Greek figures Homer and Artemis, both featuring firing marks. The bust of Homer is based on a much-restored Roman copy of a Hellenistic original. It depicts the poet as a mature bearded man, with creased forehead, wearing a fillet and tunic. The blank eyes allude to Homer's blindness. Artemis is the Greek Goddess of the hunt, nature and childbirth. Provenance: The Manor House, Donaghadee, Co. Antrim Price On Request Dimensions
