Item Description

19th Century brass bound hardwood chest decorated with shaped pierced mounts, with hinged molded rectangular top, the front with a pierced lock-plate, nail head decoration and the sides with carrying handles. The piece sits on ogee bracket feet. The interior features a lined insert, which indicates that this piece may have been used to transport ice, alcohol or other goods designed to be kept cool.
