Item Description

18th Century George III rare pair of flame mahogany demilune commodes, the moulded top with foliate shaped fan inlaid with boxwood and fruitwood and crossbanded in rosewood, trimmed with parquetry rim raised over parcel gilt frieze with egg and dart and flower head motif, the body with diamond pattern veneer and satinwood line inlay with central single door with brass escutcheon opening to reveal shelved interior raised over giltwood band of carved lambs tongue motif terminating on giltwood toupie foot with foliate and flowerhead motif.
