18th Century George II mahogany carver in the manner of Giles Grendy, the hooped back splat of open strapwork in the form of a shell with carved decorative foliate, acanthus leaf and trailing bell husk reliefs supported by a half and full circle resting on a gadrooned plinth flanked with shepherd crook arms with scroll terminals and trailing bell husk motif raised over brass studded leather upholstered seat supported on finely carved front cabriole legs being hipped at the knee with foliate, shell and scroll motifs terminating on paw feet to the fore and outswept rear legs on pad foot to the rear.
