19th Century walnut letter holder, circa 1865. Stamped “Austin, Westmoreland Street, Dublin” in gilt to the lip of the interior. The domed top with applied brass flowers and a brass scroll inscribed “Mary”.  George Austin was well known for making small portable items, i.e. writing slopes and decanter boxes. The business moved to Westmoreland Street in 1861.
